چکیده

We study a free interface problem related to combustion of condensed matter and some non-equilibrium exothermal phase transitions. In spite of a variety of non-trivial dynamical scenarios exhibited by the model the solutions are uniformly bounded and the interface velocity is a smooth function. The main result of the paper establishes existence of a compact connected attractor for the classical solutions of the problem. Numerical evidence leads to the conjecture that the fractal dimension of the attractor is finite. Submitted to Interfaces and Free Boundaries

A preconditioned solver for sharp resolution of multiphase flows at all Mach numbers

A preconditioned five-equation two-phase model coupled with an interface sharpening technique is introduced for simulation of a wide range of multiphase flows with both high and low Mach regimes. Harten-Lax-van Leer-Contact (HLLC) Riemann solver is implemented for solving the discretized equations while tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing (THINC) interface sharpening method is applied ...

Sharp Interface Limit of a Homogenized Phase Field Model for Phase Transitions in Porous Media

A homogenized phase field model for phase transitions in porous media is considered. By making use of the method of formal asymptotic expansion with respect to the interface thickness, a sharp interface limit problem is derived. This limit problem turns out to be similar to the classical Stefan problem with surface tension and kinetic undercooling.

Magnetic Properties and Phase Transitions in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Simple Cubic Lattice

Within the effective-field theory with correlations (EFT), a transverse random field spin-1 Ising model on the simple cubic (z=6) lattice is studied. The phase diagrams, the behavior of critical points, transverse magnetization,  internal energy, magnetic specific heat are obtained numerically and discussed for different values of p the concentration of the random transverse field.

Modelling Temperature Dependency of Silicon Nitride Formation Kinetic during Reaction Bonded Method

An accurate prediction of reaction kinetics of silicon nitridation is of great importance in designing procedure of material production and controlling of reaction. The main purpose of the present study is to investigate the effect of temperature on the kinetics of reaction bonded silicon nitride (RBSN) formation. To achieve this, nitrogen diffusion in the silicon nitride layer is considered as...

The Sharp-interface Approach for Fluids with Phase Change: Riemann Problems and Ghost Fluid Techniques

Systems of mixed hyperbolic-elliptic conservation laws can serve as models for the evolution of a liquid-vapor fluid with possible sharp dynamical phase changes. We focus on the equations of ideal hydrodynamics in the isothermal case and introduce a thermodynamically consistent solution of the Riemann problem in one space dimension. This result is the basis for an algorithm of ghost fluid type ...
